Hi,everyone.I was granted an asylum in January 2009 and I would be really grateful to anyone who can tell me about those bonuses which an asylee can get.Especially it concerns a college education and any possible ways to get that financial aid from the government, cos right now i don't have any chances to save money for studying. One more time thank you for any kind of help or information about this subject.

You are eligible to receive financial aid for college. You need to fill up the FAFSA form. You college of interest can help you with that. You can also apply for Medicaid or low cost health insurance if you qualify based on income.

here is this, as an asylee, you can apply for and get 8 months of public aid which is a medical insurance and also get 8 months of food stamps.

but you can't wait months to apply. I am telling this from expereinces.

after 8 months, your medical will discontinue but if you can prove low income, you can still apply for and possible get food stamps but no medical unless you can prove you are too sick or disabled to work.

I applied right after getting asylum and got 8 months of both but no medical after the 8 months set limit. I was sick, had medical bills to prove but got denied and said you are not disabled, or you can still find and do job.
