Form N-470 Question

I am considering an overseas employment by a contract of the US government--the firm that I will be working for has a contract from the US government. I maybe overseas for a long time, so I plan to file form N-470 to preserve my residency while abroad.

The N-470 says that “Check Box A if you are, or will be employed by, or are under contract with the U.S. Government.” Can I check this box? I will not be employed by the US government directly, but my firm will be under contract with the US government.

I will highly appreciate receiving your advice!

If your firm is under contract by the US government, then as a employee of that firm you are essentially under contract by the US government. You'll need an affidavit from the US government or your firm stating that the US government has contracted your employer for a set period of time and in what capacity.
