Form i-797 sent!! help

my case was transferred to Dallas Local office on 01/08/07 when i called the 1800 number i got the recording that says we've sent you I-797 form please follow the instruction on it and allow 180 days before you can inquire about this case.
what the heck does that mean???
any input much appreciated.

I-797 means notice of action. It means that the letter will say that your case was transferred to a local office. Did you get this letter lately? If yes, it could be another notice of action for additional information. If you check all the letters (RFE, receipts, transfers, etc) that you have received from USCIS it says on top: I-797C notice of action.
