Form I-765 help

Hi guys,

My EAD expires on 5/13/03 and my lawyer is asking $300 to prepare the form for renewal of EAD. I was wondering if it is worth it and am currently trying to fill the form out myself.

Wanted to know how many of you have filled this form for renewal of EAD by yourself.

I have the original I-785 copy that was filed with my I-485 and I believe only fields 10, 11, 15 and 16 will change.

I had a few questions about these fields:

10. Alien registration number (A-number) or I-94 Number (if any)
QUESTION: Do I put the A number on my EAD here? My previous I-765 (filed with 485) had my I-94 number obviously.

15. Current Immigration Status
QUESTION: My previous I-765 (filed with 485) had F-1 written here, should I now put something else as I am not F-1 anymore. What should I put here?

16. Go to Part 2 of the Instructions, Eligibility Categories. In the space below, place the letter and number of the category you selected from the instructions (For example, (a)(8), (c)(17)(iii), etc.).
Eligibility under 8 CFR 274a.12
QUESTION: My previous I-765 (filed with 485) had (C) (0) (9) filled in here. What should I put now?

10) Take the A number from your I-485 notice receipt (it should match the A number of your EAD).

15) H1B (adjustment of status pending)

Only if you are officially still working with your H1B visa, otherwise put "adjustment of status applicant".

16) c 9
 
for Question 16 if I belongs to "C 9"

Is (C)(9) and (C)(0)(9) are same or different? If So which is applicable

(c) (9) or (c) (0) (9) both works

I used (c) (9) on my form and it got approved without questions. I think either way is okay.

One last thing- can I apply before 90 days of expiration of my EAD? My EAD expiration date is 5/13/03. Can I apply next week (~110 days)? It seems INS VT is taking around full three months to approve the EAD.

You are advised to apply 3-4 months before your current EAD expires. The validity (dates on the old and new EADs do not overlap, so don't worry about it.
 
EAD Photos

How shud I put the photos. DO I have to sign my name, and if yes with a pen or a pencil.

I am also applying my EAD on my own this week. Mine expires on 05/05/2003
