Form I-485

Hi,
I have a couple of questions concerning form I-485 and was hoping I can get some help.
1.) Part 3, it ask, Were you inspected by an immigration officer? My wife is on H-1B and she went on a vacation on January 1 to January 7 in which she left out of the country. Is this question asking if she were inspected by an immigration officer at the immigration check at the airport upon her return back into the US or is this question asking if she got her examination done by an immigration officer (form I-693) or is it something totally different?

2.) Part 3 also ask for the nonimmigrant Visa Number. How an I locate that on the H-1B Visa? There is multiple numbers on it and I am not sure which one it is. There is a control number, P#, and a RED number. Which one of these is it?

3.) Part 3 section B, My wife listed me as her husband. I am a US citizen and my wife is the H-1B holder. WHere is says "applying with you", what should I put there. I am not sure of how to interpret this. I think it would be NO because i am already a US citizen and I am not applying for an adjustment of status.

4.) This is a really dumb question, but i have to ask it just to be super sure. Does it matter if we fill out the whole form in all CAPS?

Hi Lucy-
After extensive search on the forum, i found out that it is the RED number that is the nonimmigrant visa number on the H1-B. However, I was not able to locate an answer to question 3..

-----I tried calling USCIS and they said they cannot answer that question for me. All they said was "It is what it is on the form." I told them that the form can be interpret diferrent ways and I wanted to make sure I interpret it correctly. Everytime i call USCIS customer service, they never helpful. That statement can be interpret by "applying with my wife for the adjustment of status (which means, I am trying to adjust my status too)" or it can be interpret by "applying with my wife to be able to adjust her status (in other words, she needs to apply with me by being my wife in order to adjust her current status? not sure if that make sense at all) Any help on this matter is appreciated. I am submitting the paperwork this Saturday.

LOL. I do not even see the point of USCIS costumer service... all they ever do is give you wrong information or read you what the forms say...

to answer your question... NO. You are not applying with her.
 
sorry, I kind of missed the 3rd question. No, you are not applying with her, and you'll mark it "No".

If she has any non-US citizen or non-US resident children applying with her, she'll mark Yes for them.
 
Thank you both LucyMo and PraetorianXI for the answer. Seriously the customer service at USCIS is really pointless. I get so frustrated whenever I call them for information. It is true, all they do is reiterate what the forms says. I ask them about the nonimmigrant visa number on the H-1B and they again told me that "sorry we can't tell you that kind of information." I can't believe customer service won't even tell people what the nonimmigrant visa number is located on the H-1B. In all seriousness, you guys are a life saver! PraetorianXI....I don't care what other people say about you in the forum, you been more than helpful for most of us! Thanks again!

well, in their defense, visas are given out by DOS, not by USCIS, so a simple 3rd party customer service rep on the other end of the USCIS 1-800 may have never seen a visa and may not have an idea of where to look for that number. I believe their training is very basic, and doesn't include a lot of useful things.... :(
