Forgot to pay USCIS IMMIGRATION FEE. HELP!

Hi, I need help!

I won DV-2022, got my DV Visa in JULY 2022. They told me to enter the USA before DECEMBER 2022.

So, I went to the USA last week ago to activate my visa (got a stamp saying "ADMITTED NEW" "Class DV1").
And I have just come back to my home country.

However, I STILL HAVE NOT PAID the USCIS IMMIGRATION FEE.

I will pay the USCIS IMMIGRATION FEE now.

1. However, does this mean that I will need to enter the USA AGAIN before DECEMBER 2022??

2. Did me going to the USA last week count as activating the Visa if I hadn't paid the USCIS IMMIGRATION FEE then?

1. No. Not making the payment simply means your GC will not be produced until after you’ve done so. And if your current temporary GC expires will you’re outside the US and you’re yet to receive the plastic GC, you’ll have no way of returning to the US or demonstrating your a LPR at that point.
2. Yes. You effectively became a LPR following your admission into the US on that trip.

1. Can I confirm that the picture of the stamp I have attached is the "endorsement" they refer to in the sentence on the visa sticker "Upon endorsement serves as temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 year" ?

2. Is it correct that my current temporary GC will expire 1 year after Oct 26 2022, because the stamp marking my temporary GC says Oct 26 2022?



3. I have a new address for GC delivery that is different to what I have on DS-260. Do I update this before I pay the USCIS IMMIGRATION FEE, or after? And how do I do this please?

1. Yes.
2. Yes, one year from Oct. 26th, 2022.
3. Did you update the new address at the POE? That was your best bet for updating the address.

Hi Sm1smom,

Thank you for your reply. I did tell them at the point of entry but they said I need to contact USCIS about this. I have tried calling USCIS multiple times but it's always the automated system. Could you advise another way I can change the address for greencard delivery please?

Like I already noted, best bet was to have updated the address at the POE. At this point, you can try making the change when making the payment, however there’s no guarantee the GC wouldn’t get sent to the old address on the DS260.

Could you please confirm that this case with the i551 form is the correct one to pay the 220 into?

This is because I have tried to update my address on USCIS and they asked if I had a case that’s still awaiting a card, to which I said yes. Then, a drop down menu appeared asking me to specify what form I’m still waiting for a card for, but there is no i551 to choose from.

i have a similar question ....i am a DV2022 winner and reached USA 6 weeks back. But i still did not receive my Green card
even though i paid the fees early august. But now i have a situation in which i need to travel to my
country for a short visit, so is it possible i can travel and return back with the visa that i got from the
embassy in my passport (without the Green card).

Yes you can. The endorsed IV in your passport became a temporary GC valid for one year from the day it was endorsed at the POE.
