Forgot to include maiden name on N-400 app

I forgot to include my maiden name on the N-400 application in the 'Other Names Used' section. How should I go about rectifying this omission. Is a simple letter stating the omission along with the maiden name to CIS sufficient or should I include an amended N-400 with the change highlighted. The application was submitted on Sep 15 and the RD/PD is Sep 16. Please advise. Thanks,

Don't worry. Just bring it to the Officer's attention at the time of your interview. They will go over your N-400 closely and mark these types of changes.

I had a similar problem with my N-400. It's too late to make an amendment now, but don't worry. Just as the previous poster wrote, you will get a chance to amend the N-400 at your interview.

In my case, I was concerned that they wouldn't do a name check on the missing name. (as they weren't aware of it.) I was worried that I would get to the interview and be told that my application would be delayed while they conducted a name check on the missing name. BUT, my fears were unfounded. Why? Because when I went for fingerprinting, there was a form that had to be filled out when I arrived. On the form, they ask you to list all names and aliases that you have used. When I was called to the counter to hand the form in, I told them that one of the names I had listed was missing on the N-400. They assured me that they would run a name check on ALL names I had listed at the fingerprinting appointment. (even if a name was missing from my application form.)

I had my interview on September 15, and everything was fine. I have already received my letter for the oath ceremony. Any errors were rectified at the interview. The officer will circle and number all errors/omissions that have been corrected, and you will have to sign your name on a paper with the numbered corrections.

So don't worry. I'm sure everything will be fine. Just remember to add the missing name at the fingerprinting appointment! :)

Thanks.

That's how I discovered the omission, becuase when I was filling out the form at the ASC for the FP, I listed my maiden name and then started wondering if I did list the maiden name on the N-400. When I went back and checked, I realized the omission.

BTW, did you make the change on the N-400 during your interview, and what did the officer have to say when you mentioned this omission?

At the interview, I mentioned there were a few errors on the form, and the officer was really nice about it. He said, "Don't worry, we'll go over the forms and correct the errors right now." He was already aware of certain errors, and had circled them before the interview. (Checkboxes that the paralegal should have marked, but had been left blank.) I already had a list of errors that had been made, and it took no time at all to correct everything. He circled and numbered each error, and I had to sign to say it was now correct. I had been nervous about the errors, thinking they would somehow cause the officer to be impatient or angry, but in reality, he made no issue about it at all. The interview was a very pleasant experience, and even with the errors, the whole thing took less than 15 minutes. I hope your interview goes as smoothly as mine! :)
