Hello,
Can I submit an English translation of a basic foreign document that I have translated myself? In our case a German "Abstammungurkunde" which is similar to a birth certificate but also lists the natural parents of an adopted child. I am fluent in German and English. My parents are both U.S. citizens by birth.
As part of the AOS filing for my minor sister (a German citizen), we received a Request for Evidence. We've submitted the a copy of the original birth certificate with the original filing but a seperate birth certificate listing her birth parents is required.
There may not be enough time to have the document translated by an outside source so I am wondering if I could submit a notarized affadavit or sworn statement along with my translation.
Thank You!
