As per Forum123, he got his AP by walking into the Newark office. So maybe you have to be lucky..

Have u tried going to Newark for AP?/

Mine still pending Rd:10/14

I am planning to visit INS Newark early next week. Mostly next Monday as I have my tickets booked for next Wednesday. Hope I get the AP. My atty suggested that I wait this week too...
 
Good luck. Let me know how does it go. I dont have any tickets booked but I need to go to India and wtg for AP. So i was debating a walk in or wait for VSC AP to be approved
 
Nope. I did not go for AP.

Fortunately my H1 extension has come thru and will be travelling on H1. Getting stamping in India.

Please let me know if there will be any issues.

I normally don't post much. But, I'd like to tell you sth that happened in my team last year. There's a guy went to india for a visit on H1 visa, then he couldn't get visa stamp to come back. Getting AP is much safer than getting H1B stamp.
