Hello Guys,
Hope you are doing good. Sorry i know i asked this question before. but wanted to double check something..

So, i was saying before....I got my US GC , After which i got my Canadian Resident Visa stamped.

I did not go for Landing, never visited canada, wrote a letter to the canadian embassy and sent back the landing papers. But there is the visa pasted on my passport.

Stayed in US ever since after getting US GC. would i have any issues when i go for US citizenship ?? Kindly advise.

If you never took up Canadian PR and never established residence in Canada I don't see any issues with having a stamp in your passport.

Bobsymth..
Woow, you are super quick in responding...Thank you so much. I dont have words to thank you.

No, i did not take up any residence in Canada. Infact i have stayed in US ever since i got my GC and i have never travelled outside the US for even a minute !!!!

I know they say for citizenship you have to satisfy continuous permanent resident in US, have ties. I have maintained everything as per the docs... and even have a house here..

Anyways, i am glad i asked you.. Thank you so much again...

Did the Canadian government give you anything in writing to acknowledge that your surrendered the Canadian PR? If yes, bring that to the interview in case the IO gives you any problems.

No, they did not give me anything in writing. I just surrendered my landing papers thats it.

I remember it said if you are not interested or cannot land by the date specified please return the papers and thats what i did.

I don't see any issues because you neither landed in Canada nor established residence in Canada. Having land papers won't affect your applying for US citizenship because you already surrendered it.

Thanks USGC485. Much appreciate your help.

I have to embark on this journey now...so i will keep coming back to this forum more often.

Oh, Btw... Just a quick question. I am in South Carolina. Actually live in SC and work in NC. Which Center will service my app? SC or NC.... Where can i find information if they give the oath the same day etc etc...

Can you point me somewhere for more info. I tried searching SC N 400 Tracker , but i could not find more information

You will have to file your N-400 to Texas Service Center. Here's the link: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/us...nnel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

Here's general information including steps to file N-400:
1) Pdf files can be downloaded on the bottom of the link that was given above.

2) Guide to Naturalization: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/us...nnel=96719c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

3) Information about others that are required are available on the top corner of the link of http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/us...nnel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

Please make sure to check the website every time because application forms (pdf) sometimes is updated (look at footnote on the pdf and look at the instructions on the link: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/us...nnel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD).

About having an oath on the same day, it depends on the district office (up to IO officer as well).

Good luck!

FOR USGC485/Bobsymth...Update....Thank You.

Hello USGC485/Bobsymth
Thank you so much. Coincidence.. :) I got a call from my attorney today, it was a casual conversation. I did ask him regarding the Canadian PR / US GC, he said there is absolutely no issues at all. Since i did not land in Canada, gave back my papers, got the money back and ever since stayed in the US. He said since the intention has been to stay in the US and since i have been here all this while...There should be no questions.

I wanted to thank you guys so much :-). I cannot believe what i heard. :-)

Thanks guys... you guys rock !!
