I was deeply saddened by the tragedy in south Asia. Though I am not related to those countries and this is not the place to post such request, may I suggest you, especially those lucky ones who got approved, to donate some money even if it is a few bucks to red cross for the release effort?

Could you also urge your friends to do the same?

It is easy to do: just go to http://www.amazon.com if you have an account it would be just a few clicks away. You can also go to http://www.yahoo.com to pick your charity.

God Have Mercy... ... Thank you very much.

I agree with what you said, make this important event of our life memorable by donating to relief fund. People have devastated by this natural calamity. Each $ will help.

I would certainly agree with you and I would extend this appeal to even those who do not have their case approved, as I am also in the same boat (I140 and 485 pending for a long time).Yes, we do not have our cases approved, but this should not stop us from extending humanitarian aid to the people in need.

I wonder if the forum administrator can make a sticky note across this website. Yes, we are frustrated but we are not without heart. This tragedy has already claimed lives 40 times that of 911. The scale of destruction is unbelievable.

We need to help!

Good job. Where ever a tragedy takes place, red cross will be at the fore front. Red Cross organization is not funded by governments. It is 100% funded by donations. When the hurricanes hit Florida, i have read in news papers about the good work done by red cross. During that time, when i was watching on TV, there came an inteview from a red cross coordinator who mentioned that his organization needs donations from people because that is the only source of their income. I have immediately made a donation.
A lot of organizations (like churches, temples, mosques etc) collect donations for relief work, but i would advise people not to donate there because doing relief work is not the specialized work of those organizations. So that donation may not be utilized effectively.

Way to extend our support

Dear Friends,

In Gods name we can extend our support to the needy. The below link routes the funds to people affected in India.

https://www.aidindia.org/aidadmin/DonateToRRF.jsp

For people who can't make donations right now, please extend your valuable prayers to the victims around the world.

PS: this is for people from other parts of this United World.
Currency Exchange US $1 = Rs. 43
The approximate money needed for a victim of Tsunami is Rs.43 per day.

I also donated to International red cross. People please keep this thread alive and post ur donation details here to inspire others who havent done yet...

God bless this world...

I really appreciate this effort.

I am paying to UNICEF, since my company is matching every $ amount we are paying. so its doubling the $ amount what I am paying. :) Earlier I was thinking to send to PM relief fund,India, and they are not charging any service fee. Only reason I decided to pay through office is due to their match. Me and Most of my coleagues are paying a day salary. since we do all get good pay as software consultants, Our office raised good amount of money overall.

This is probably a silly question but does donating at ifrc.com go directly to the tsunami affected people and donating at redcross.com can go to any any natural disaster.

by the way check this out...

NY Times says US is ‘stingy’

there are many donation sites out there. Red Cross is more for the emergency (short term) efforts, which is much needed now. Many other organization may not have the capability to gather food and supply quickly.

The following couple of days, the countries have to worry about starvation and possible epidemics, which most charity may be too slow to respond. One or two weeks later, money would not compensate the lack of as for now.

of course, you are free to donate to whatever you feel comfortable.

Thanks, guys!
