For those of you who is planning to go to COP

With all due respect, this has nothing to do with asylees. Yes i see your point that airline passenger data may pinpoint that you went to COP but going to COP doesn't mean you become a terrorist automtically.

As long as you haven't done anything wrong and going to COP is valid like a sick relative etc, I see no problems at all. Be honest & truthful and you will be ok.

I know a LPR who is not an asylee but she went out of the country for over 7 months without a rentry permit. When she entered, the officer asked her why does't she have a rentry permit so she flatly told him the reason that she was separated from her husband because of U.S Laws & her husband had a heart attack so she had to take care of him..the officer was the nicest to her and let her go.

... unfortunately only applied to those from 'certain' countries/religions/names. If you are white or hispano - no problem.

It is not about you, it is about the officer.

Yeah, my point was not to scare people or set the panic. It's just the system in US is getting better as far as control so pretty soon they will know everything. They really want to control where everybody travels, what hotel stays... . 6 or 7 years ago they wouldn't even know if one left the country or not (unless he(she) surrenders the I94). Now they are (will be) able to track basically every body down.

Listen, why don't you go back to the totalitarian regime you came from, you seem to enjoy the basics of it very much. The US doesn't care where you travel or where you stay, they don't want to control anybody. All they want to know is whether you are a potential threat to our safety on board of a plane or once you cross the border into the US. By the way, I am in my COP right now taking care of my mom who broke her arm. I wil keep you posted on my journey back!

Ksusha, there is no need to be so rude. I just posted the info so other people would be aware of it. Sorry to hear about your Mom, hope she'll feel better soon. There is nothing wrong with visiting sick relatives and that kind of situations are exceptions. The info I posted for those who visit the COP for pleasure so they would be aware and carefull. When I returned from Turkey in May IO officer (passport control) asked me if I visited COP or ever renewed the national passport alltough I had a GC on hand. So they do care in a way. It's a matter of luck. Again it does not apply to your situation at all. My parents are still in my country as well and I will do whatever it takes to get there if they'll need me.
