Hello! Please give me your input. I applied for US citizenship and here is my timeline:

May 2007 Got married. I have a 16-year-old son from a previous marriage
April 2008 Got my conditional green card based on marriage with a US citizen
April 2010 Got my permanent green card valid for 10 years
January 2011 Got separated, husband left for his home state. His reasons: ailing father (cancer), marital differences, and looking for work. He got out of the military on November 2007 and since then, he was jobless. I was the one working for us. We haven't divorced, we still filed for taxes jointly in 2011 (not anymore in 2012 as I put head of household), and we still talk almost everyday
July 2013 Applied for citizenship under the 5-year rule

I am getting ready for my interview, I just want to know if I would encounter scrutiny regarding my marital status. Or worse, based on my case, is there a possibility that my petition can be denied? I am looking forward to your responses and thank you in advance!

Since you are not divorced, I don't think it matters much. You are still married legally. That's your answer, and you are sticking by it.

Looking at your timeline, I see no issues with your N-400.

There is a section of the N-400 which asks about your spouse and his address. Don't put your own address there, since he's not living with you. His separate address may raise questions about the state of your marriage, but living separately is the truth, and you're applying with the 5-year rule so once you answer the interviewer truthfully they should move on to the next question without giving you any problems about it.
