For Ciba (PR Stamping on passport by Appointment)

This is the most hassle-free and wonderful way to get your GC stamped
      on your passport.

I reached there early around 12.15 pm for my 1-2 pm appointment.
(Don\'t go early, go like 10 minutes before 1, it is of no use going there and
getting bored and wasting your time off work. If only I had known better, I
would have saved myself an hour:). Well, atleast when my husband goes,
he knows better than to land there way ahead of time). They dont start
      on this before 1 anyways...

At 1.05 a lady came and took our approval notices(for people who had
ADIT processing appointments). Then she asked us to follow her into
a room where she and two other officers would work with us.
She asked us to sit down(on the chairs in the room). Since I had gone
early, I got my turn rightaway. It took not more than 7 minutes for the
officer to take my EAD, AP, approval notice. He took my signature,
finger print and then stamped my passport, wrote down the A#, validity
date and gave me back my passport.

I have no idea why people harass themselves by landing up at the INS
at unearthly hours, when the approval has already come through and
they can take this simple appointment and get it done in 15 minutes.

Hope this helps and Ciba, could you post it on your page so that ppl
know that there is an option for PR Stamping by appointment.

Ciba, please add me to the Plastic card waiting list. My husband hasnt
      received his approval yet.

      Thanks,
      Apsa

People have to bear the "unearthly hours" since they may have to spend many "earthly&

Anyway, I\'ll try to let my paralegal make the appointment for me :)

Which INS Office is this ?

In SFO, there is no need for any appointment, Please check the message posted earlier. This was preceisely my experience.
Just one hour flat. Just in time before the Parking time expired....

Here are a few things about stamping at SFO.

    1. There are two queues at SFO INS center, one for general inquiries (the long queue to Washington street entrance) and the second one for appointments (the
one for passport stamping - this queue leads the Sansome street entrance). Take the Sansome street queue.

    2. When you get to the second floor, go to room 200 and you will find room 200B to your right as you enter. You will find a small queue at counter 19 right next to
the room 200B. Instead of joining the queue, you can just go to the door or 200B and drop off your approval notices thru the mail slot on the door. It does not hurt
to stand in queue at #19, but people who drop off their notice will get precedence over those in line.

I went at 8:40 am today. There were 15 persons ahead of me. Took me 15 minutes to get in. Went thru the security check and to the second floor. Dropped off my
approval notice at the door of 200B. Was called after 10 minutes (ahead of folks who were standing in the queue at #19 before I arrived!). The gentleman at the
counter took my passport, courtsey copy, EAD and AP documents (he did not take the original approval despite my mentioning it). Took print of my right hand
index finger and signature. Asked us to wait for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, our names were called and we (my wife and I) collected our stamped passport.

Getting an appointment may be hassle free but...

if it takes 1 month to get an appointment, folks may just want to brave the cold and the wind and the long line to end their GC journey ASAP. Remember, even though you are a Perm. Resident from the date of approval, your plastic card process is begun on the day of stamping. Waiting 1 extra month may be a case of so near yet so far for most folks.

i dont agree

once ur approval is here, one month here and there doesnt matter..
you will get the card ...because it has to come once you get the stamp..
and the stamp is a valid GC...so why harass yourself....

the main thing I think is approval...once that gets thro, you are clear..
