For all questions how the 485 is processed see the link.
This document explians everything from the time 485 received to the adjucation. This is including from the mail room to actual sending the approval letter. This also includes how the RFE'S are issued and what happens after they issue an RFE and after the response is received. This is damn good document where every single detail has been explianed.
