For 485 processing time, what do they consider - PD/RD?

My 140 was approved with PD of October 2002. My 485 RD is Jan 6 2005. After my 485 becomes current (I fall under retrogression), do I still need to wait till VSC processes cases for Jan 6 2005 or do they consider the PD for figuring out if they should process my 485?

Right now, their website says VSC is processing Oct 2003 I-485 cases

Once your PD is current, the I-485 RD will control when your I-485 is processed.

I know about retrogression md_rockville if you see my post. I was talking about after my PD becomes current.

Thanks RealCanadian!

I think the USCIS publishing date would decide the approval. Once the processing date reached near to your RD , they will start working on your file and for the approval assigns VISA number to your case based on your PD and the DOS cut off date.

dear Freind , you have a long journey to go unless mighty luck prevail upon you. You will keep getting EAD/AP/FPs/Name check etc during this period untill USCIS published date reached to your RD. Good luck

I don't think it will be a long journey considering that I used a pre-approved labor. I filed all my paperwork in late december 2004 and my 140 is already approved (in 24 days).

As for 485, my PD is Oct 2002 so I am guessing that my PD will become current by Oct 2005 and by then VSC should be processing Aug 2004 cases. My 485 RD is Jan 6 2005 so another 4 months or so from then. So total wait will be about 1 yr and a few months.

Of course this calculation is subject to the randomness showed by USCIS and I may be off by months either way. But on the face of it, a year or so doesn't look like a long journey to me!
