FOIA problem

I had requested my 140/485/Labor papers from VSC in late March 2004. But now, suddenly, I have to move residence as I have got a new project in another state.

I am planning to file AR-11 to kentucky and call the 800 no of VSC.

What else should I send to VSC to make sure that they send FOIA papers to my new address?

Should I have to file a new FOIA request

Thanks guys

Send letter to Center along with FOIA reference # about your address change.
HTH

Hi Tiger,

I got my FOIA case number. So, if I write a letter to VSC with the Case No, I can get the docs to the new address right?
or do I have to file AR-11 for it?

Thanks

Hi World Citizen,

How long will it take to get the case number for FOIA ? Just wondering, when you filed, did you had your EAC or receipt numbers for Labor/140/485/EAD ?. Any info will be of great help to me. My employer is refusing to provide me with the copy of my 485 receipt notice or the EAC number for tracking purpose. I have the EAC for 140, can I file just with that EAC number ?. What are the papers to be submitted along with FOIA or just the G639 form ?. Please advise.

Thanks

AR-11 has nothing to do with BCIS or your FOIA. Infrom BCIS of address change for each of your pending cases incl FOIA.

FOIA advice

Gurus,

Applied for FOIA coz of absolute zero visibility into LC, I140, I485 etc...

Reading through the forums I understand that we would get a case# after we apply for FOIA.

1. I was wondering what is the time frame to get a case#
2. How long does it normally take to get a response from NSC
3. Can we call up the 1-800 # to find out the case status

Thanks again. :)

i doubt it usually USCIS will send you letter stating that they have received the letter and assigned a case no (mine is ESC2004005***) and asked me to use that no for any further inquiry.

They also stated that my application was put ona simple track because of the nature of the request ( i requested for copy of the Approved I-140 along with underlying labor (ETAforms 750A&B)

It toolk me 21/2 weeks.
yes i had all the receipt nos.
yes you can file using I-140 RN. just state that you need copy of the I-485 /I-765/I131 based on that I-140.
nothing i just submitted G639 didn't even notarize it because it says you don't need to if your using for FOIA not PA.

For FOIA you should do nothing. I moved after filing the FOIA request, and received the requested documents on my new address - US Postal Service simple forwarded it like any other mail.

In most cases, USPS will not forward federal mails from INS/SSA etc. This is official rule of USPS. I confirmed with local post master.

A sender of a mail does not really matter. It all depends how the package was mailed. If it was mailed with "Return service reques" / "Forwarding address request" option (as most official corrspondence is mailed) the package will be returned. But it looks like USCIS considers results of FOIA requests not so important, so they are just mailed by plain mail and forwarded as needed.

FAX number : (802) 527-4864

If you filed at VSC you can send a direct FAX to FOIA

Here is the FAX number : (802) 527-4864 include your file number for FOIA request and state your address change

No Case# Yet from NSC

Gurus,

NSC received FOIA request on August 16th. I did not receive any Case# for that as of yet. How long does it take to get a case#?

I did not put anythying like "Attn: FOIA" on the cover. But the PO Box was correct.

I140 applied 12/31/03 approved 03/2004
I485 applied 12/31/03
EAD and AP approved in 04/2004
FP done 05/2004
