Fiscal responsibility for visiting relatives

I had sponsored my parents-in-laws visa 5 years ago. They had gotten a 10 year B1 visa at that time. Since then my spouse and I have divorced.
Now as I understand, her mother is in hospital in US without proper medical insurance and medical bills are growing rapidly. At this stage, they will be unable to pay for medical bills. Will I be held responsible for any unpaid medical bills since I sponsored their visa 5 years ago. Hospital authorities have told them that the sponsor would have given a commitment to the US govt that the visitor will not become a public discharge. Please advise

If you signed the form I-134 it suppose that you are responsible for three years unless there is other part that specifies the contrary.
You can check out with USCIS.
