First time passport

I am about to become an US citizen soon. I have an emergency travel to my native country, so there is not enough time to apply for an US passport here. I have two questions:
1. Will I have any problems leaving the US with the passport of my native country ? (the green card will be taken on my oath ceremony, I will have only my naturalization certificate).
2. Is it OK to apply for a passport for a first time in the US embassy ? Has someone done anything like that ?

Strictly speaking, as a US citizen you are legally required to have a US passport when leaving the US, but I've never heard of that being enforced.

Yes, many people have successfully applied for their first-time US passport at a US consulate. However, it takes longer (couple months) than within the US, so if you can't conveniently stay in your original country long enough to wait for the US passport, I suggest postponing the oath and using your existing passport to travel.

I assume you're already aware of whether or not you'd lose your original citizenship upon becoming a US citizen, and the implications that will have on traveling back to your original country. If you are NOT aware, find out ASAP!

I forgot to mention that you can get a US passport in 24 hours or less by applying for the passport at a passport agency (not the post office) with proof of your upcoming travel.
