First H1B Visa Stamping. When can I travel?

Applied for H1B for FY2012. Waiting on decision. However, for planning purposes, I need to know when is the earliest I can travel if H1B is approved? Can I enter back in the U.S. before October 1st? Or do they give you the visa stamp starting on October 1st?

I am sorry if I am repeating this question, but I had a hard time finding an answer.

Wait for the H1 approval notice and then apply for Visa stamp, get H1 Visa stamp and then post for info.
 
I understand that, but my question was when is the earliest I can leave US (after approval of H1B of course)?

After H1 approval the Consulate stamp the Visa till H1 approval notice date. if employer has job and wants that you join on October 1 then you can come to US on October 1 or 10 days advance.
