I am so glad today!
I have got my fingerprint notification. My GC application was received by INS on January 1999, asulam was approved on December 1 1997.
My God, I can not believe i have got something from them after so many years of silence...
Friends, who knows from own experience - how long it takes from here to getting green card?
My son is going to be 21 by the end of November this year, I do not think I can do anything about him - I will be late...
But -how wonderfull day is today for me!
I almost lost already all of my hopes...:) :D :p

Congratulations!! Yeah, it is a great feeling to hear back from them, right?
I don't think anybody knows from own experience, how much time it takes from here to get the green card. This is a new procedure INS is following to process I-485 applications for asylees. So, experiences that have been posted in this forum do not necessarily apply to us.
As for your son, I do not think there is any issue with him to be 21 years old, specially after President Bush recently signed a Age-out legislation that as I understand puts an end to the nunc pro tunc issue. Check discussion created by Camus titled nunc pro tunc, I posted the reference in there.
Good luck and stay in touch.

Thank you, alanpero, for shearing my feelings!
But the problem with my son still exist. He is in my native country. He is my son from my first merriage, he was not encluded in the asylee petition, filled by my curent husbent, primery applicant. I was on interview with him and I had got my asylum with him. Not my children - as I say, they were not included into the petition.
As i will get my GC, I can fill for them form I 130 as for children of permanent resident. That's all I know so far.Older son is going to be 21 on November 30 2002.

Tomochka did you apply with NSC?If you did then you are very lucky because i applied for adjustment of status before you did yet i have not heard from INS.

Yes, I had applied with Nebraska.
Hope, yours will come soon.
Maybe it will good idea for you to write to them and remind about your time of application or even call to local congressmen?

ALAMPERO

This is to recorgnise Alampero. You are of a great asset in this column especially we asylees when we need directions, share our adverse case processing experiences we encounter and your total commitment by making us informed about what is going on.Once again thank you

date of fillind I-145

As I had found from INS document, they call asylees by the date of filing I-145, not by the date of notice of receiving it by INS.
I filled my application in the middle of December 1998, I had got the notice of receiving it in january 1999.
I got fingerprint note in Sept. 2002 after years of absolutely silence.

Plz keep this alive!

guys! Please keep this post alive. Everybody wants to know that how long does it take after fingerprinting to get the GC.

You lucky guys who have received fingerprinting notification, plz let us know when you would get your GC.

I have got my fingerprints today.
Service by INS was excelent - no lines, it was done right away when I came and filled the application they gave me.
For my question, they told me GC has to come from 3 to 5 month from here. Medical exam note, they told, has to be mailed to me within 3 month. It is the info I have got from them, but I do not know how much it is true, because they just gave me general info
not asking about the kind of case I have (asylum status).

Hello TOMOCHKA!

Your story is scaring for me...
To wait again for few years - God!!!
I feel so sorry for your, Irina (Ira?)...
Did they send you the notification to come for fingerprints or did you do fingerprints together with your application (well, does not look like...)?
Did you write to congressmen?

Yes, they did send me a notification in March 10 2001, I applied for GC in Sept 1998. When i received a notification, I thought this is it, this is the end of my struggle. I talked to them (INS) yesterday and they will send me a new one for the fingerprints since this is expired already.
It doesn’t mean that they will do the same with your application. As I said before , I am very “lucky” person. And my guess you are not in NSC.
I guess, we are from the same region.

I AM TERRIBLY SORRY TO YOU, IRINA...
My luck is not much better than yours - its a lot to talk about, maybe we will some day...
Yes, you did right to bother them.
I think I would not get even this FP notification, if I did not write to congresmen just a few month before it. a clerk from the congrsmn office called me and told: INS answer is to wait. But in few month came that FP note...
My case is in Nebraska, yes...
Good luck to you from all my heart!

I received my fingerprinting notification today.. At least I know that they did not lose my case...

Congratulations.I told you to chill since you went through all channels at your disposal. But anyway i did the same thing in June when i went to the congress lady who inquired about the status of my case,i chilled when INS advised me to let them know about my address changes and they will let me know as soon as they reach my file .Two months later,i received the FP notification.By the way i took my fingerprints on the 10/03,I called FBI on the 10/07 to inquire my FP status, I was told that i was cleared on 10/04 and the results were sent to INS so i`m waiting for whats comming up next.Once again congrats
