My citizenship application has a priority date of August 20. I got a request in the mail today to come in and get fingerprints done on Thursday this week. I was curious... is it normal to be requested to have fingerprints done so fast? I assumed it would take a LOT longer. - Doug.

Mine, too. A friend's also, same type of timeline. If you're in a 'popular' DO, things move slower due to more people. If you're in the Boondongle, NE (pop 500) DO, things are fast.

(funny story I remembered. A few months ago I was waiting at the DO for GC renewal FP. So this lady from some far away place (mid-late 40's) comes in with her USC FP letter. She's given the white form to fill (why?). Her English was not very good. Under 'Nationality' she actually filled in USA until I told her that if she was from the USA she would not need to be FP'd for USC :-). She thanked me profusely. FP must be stressing people out...)

Seems like that is a little faster than usual. I got my fingerprint notice about 3 weeks after submitting the n-400. The actual appointment was about 3 weeks after the notice. You're lucky! :)

Thanks for that piece of information. You didn't answer my question though.

You asked if it was normal to receive FP so fast.
I answered it depends on your DO..some DOs send out FPs quicker than others depending on availability.
Receiving FP within a month of applying has been reported before, so it's not unheard of.

Hello
Any idea how long it takes to get your passport ( express/expedited service )
and what would be better ,to apply for passport at the ceremony or at Los angeles's
passport agency?
thanks

In fact, most FP notice nowadays are sent within one month from recept date of N400. So it is normal to receive FP notice very fast nowadays.

And I believe it depend more on avaiability of local ASC not local DO.
As I can see ASC do not have a very busy schedule that is why they often accept walk-in

Last time I went to ASC it was like 6-7 months ago, it was completely empty.
Seems like people backing down from applying for Adjustment of Status or Naturalization.
Probably because economy is not in a good shape, people trying to save money and not applying for benefits.
I don't know few years back people were waiting in the line. Right now in some ASCes USCIS officers glad to see any alive person in their buildings:D
