Fingerprints & Police clearance

My fathers fingerprints were rejected for the second time and he recieved a letter requesting clearance from local authority from places he has lived in past five years.

What is the procedure to get the police clearance? How do I know where the local police station is and whom do I contact?

And do I need to get a police clearance from India also as my father has been visiting us since past 5 years and has lived either with us or in india?

Help appreciated....
 
Here in US search city goverment. on their website you will find police dept contact info. call them they will guide you.
Most probably they will ask inperson to come. it will take 5 min. to get this certificate.
If your fahter lived diff. cities during this five years you want to find a way to get it.
 
Ok, we mailed the Police clearance letter to california. Thanks for all help.

usually how much time does it take to get I-485 approved from date of mailing the police clearance letter. I-130 is already approved for my father.
