fingerprints expiration?

Hi everyone, I applied for i-485: July/2002
my husband got FP in June 2003
i got FP in June 2004
Not heard from INS after that.
My question is, I was in the impression that the FP expires in 6 months but reading DWELLER's experience, he mentions FP in June 2003 and GC approval in July 2004, does that mean his FP didn't expire or he forgot to mention another FP???????????

I had my GC approval from TSC in record time.

I faxed to TSC informing them my FP will expire in 3 more months (after 12 months over) and my I485 got approved in 3 days.
