fingerprinting: live scans and ink impressions

Our number is current for April. We are in dash to do our police clearance checks. We have to do Canada (as we lived there 5 years ago) and Australia.

We actually did them in August last year but don't know if the consulate even got them so early in our process and the Canadian police returned our forms to us saying they didn't receive the correct fee...?

Anyhow we are doing them again. It says for Canada they require ink impressions. We did 'live scans' last time and even when the Canadian police (RCMP) returned us our forms saying they were unable to process due to fee not paid, they made no mention of receiving 'live scans' of fingerprints as not being acceptable.

So now we are trying again. Can't get an appointment for ink impressions anywhere in entire State until month of May!! Getting appointment for 'live scan' fingerprinting is no problem, and we can do this method for our Australian clearance checks, but quite worried about the Canadian checks. I have emailed RCMP today to ask if we can submit 'live scan' fingerprinting.

Does anyone here know anything at all about fingerprinting requirements in Canada or even just to share your won police check experience?

Thanks so much. I al so grateful to have found this forum.

Our interview is in April and we will be posting the entire process for others to read.I have gained a lot from reading other's experiences.

Can you clarify that the live-scan fingerprints were acceptable to the AFP. Their website says to submit fingerprints with the application, and that the prints need to be done at our local police station. As far as I know they all still use ink prints. I can get live scan done locally but with a private finderprinting company. Does live scan make the process any quicker? I see that the AFP website says they have "significant" delays. Any idea how long it takes? Thanks.
