do we need some documentation while going to INS

I shall carry GC and Passport
do we need any more documents ?

do we go to the nearest INS - I was planning to go to Santa Ana in Los Angeles

do I need an appointment earlier ?

are there any charges ?

information

Well..Well..Well

I am answering my own questions.

For a child who was less than 14 years when he/she got the green card the process is as follows.

You have to fill the I-90 form (application to replace permanent resident card)

This is available at the www.uscis.gov website

The fees that appear on the website are old and please refer to the appropriate section on the website for updated fees charges.

You can apply in person or send this in the mail.

If you apply in person

a) You have to submit old GC of your child
b) Fill in the I-90 form
c) Take 2 INS style photos of your child
d) Take the child's passport with You.
e) Take Your checkbook with you.
f) Use the infopass feature on the website to get an appointment
and visit INS at the right time and date of the appointment

You should apply within 30 days of the 14th birthday of the child.

The process to apply in the mail will be different.
But I shall go to INS - I have already secured an infopass appointment.

Cheers guys - have fun.

Replacement Card for kid - turning 14...

Hi folks,

My GC was approved just before my kid turned 14 and I was not aware of this card process - hence, I did not do anyting yet. It is already five months that kid turned 14. I am in Boston and planning to go to INS Boston personally - some questions on it ...

1. OK, so I fill in I-90 and pay fees and give the card alongwith I-90..
2. But what about finger printing ? Does it happen on the same day ?
3. We have already booked tickets for India trip - travelling in July after
four years. Shall we get card before that ?
4. They put stamp on passport to travel ?
5. Any fine for late action ?

Anything else to be noted ?
Any suggestions ?
Any issues ?
