fingerprint rescheduling

I have a I-797C notice of action started on April 19 for
a fingerprint appointment for April 26th.

The thing is that I was only able to check my mail on April 22nd (hasn't arrived in mailbox) and the 27th (arrived maybe a few days back). This is really disconcerting because I hardly had any time to react. This seems to be an extremely short heads-up compared to the other notices of fingerprinting I've seen in the internet.

I'm very concerned because the notice says in bold letters: If you fail to appear as scheduled below or fail to request rescheduling, your application will be considered abandoned.

Does the rescheduling have to be done before April 26th, which was my appointed date, or can I do it after? My biggest concern is, will I be able to reschedule the appointment or am I going to have to start from the beginning again? :( Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I believe you are safe. I was going to reschedule my son's appointment (for I485) and was told that he could walk in on a specific day of the week (Wednesdays, in Houston) if he missed his appointment. I believe the warning is that if more than 30 or 45 days have passed, the application may be considered abandoned.

I suggest you go to that location and ask, or call them.

Best of luck

Usually a reschedule causes delays.
How did it go, did you reschedule your FP?

Usually they entertain walkins for thosw that have missed their appointment for any reason. Check with your ASC. You will be fine. Don't worry unnecessarily.

Guys I have recently done rescheduling here is the info

I had given my earlier FP in March 2005 so was scheduled to receive at approximately 3 months from March of this year( assuming the validity is 15 months). However they sent my fingerprinting notice in Feb for a date of March 3, 2006. As luck would have had it I was on vacation in India during that time and only returned back 10 days after the date had passed. I panicked and called USCIS on the number given on the notice and was advised to write a letter with the travel itenary attached and if possible copy of latest I-94 and asking for rescheduling with a 'Delivery request' and 'Signature request'. I did that and was awaiting for rescheduling. so the saga continues

I recd my rescheduled notice in mail on 05/06/2006 for an appointment dtd 05/02/2006 :D .. so that was twice in like 3 months. So this time around(today morning 05/09/2006 a full week after the date) I went to the VSC early in the morning 7.30 waiting in the Q and explained the lady what had happened( I tool the envelope with date). She said No problem sir ( did not even look at the letter or date) and I was the first to get fingerprinted and was out in like 15 mins max.

so thats my story. If you guys are in a similar situation may be you can try out the VSC where you were given the apt with proof and try to go early in the morning so that you are one of the firsts there..

good luck

kris

FP rescheduling at Deroit Service Center

Rescheduling FP is not a problem. If you miss your date. You can walk-in, that Service Cente. they will FP you.

I missed my 5/5 FP appointment because I received notice on 5/3. I walked in Detroit Service Center on 5/13. No question asked I got it done in 15 minutes.
