Hi,

I got denied my asylum in canada and appeal also denied.
Now I am going to USA to claim asylum.
Here what my questions are,

1.when i apply asylum while i am in the USA, should i tell that i already claimed asylum in Canada?

2. If I dont tell them that my case already denied in Canada , can they find that out?

3. I think, they can find that out, if they check out my fingerprints with Canadian database of fingerprints. Will they do so?

please answer my questions if u know exact information.

Thank you.

ALWAYS ALWAYS tell the truth.

We are in no position to knowing that; however, I think in Europe they have a system in which if one state denies you asylum the other will follow suite; but USA is different. They don't care where your asylum was denied; they will consider your case on its merit; and telling the truth helps alot; another thing you may consider is the fact the question of second country asylum may contain in the asylum application. Double check that... Sure if you tell them you asked for asylum in Canada and you failed, this may delay your case because they want to know what happened exactly from canadian authories..
Good luck

The US has the same system as Europe which was developed in 2004. If you were fingerprinted in Canada the US will come to know that you had applied for asylum in Canada. So if you are applying for Asylum in the US make sure that you tell them that you had applied for Asylum in Canada.
