Finger Prints - Thread!

Can some one shed some light on why some cities were getting finger prints within 2 months and some like 6-9 months.
Is there any good reason?
Does it mean the one who are getting it in 2 months will get their I-485 approval faster than other cities?

Welcome to the club!!

Some of the people I know are waiting longtime (8 months)for approval after very early FP.

Some people got the approvals early...There is no pattern.

But Chicago files seems to have moved much faster than Detroit for similar dates..

Have no fun waiting for FP in Detroit!!

I don\'t think FP is anything to do with the city that you are from.
If you are referring to NSC\'s recent FP notices being sent to
applicants whose RD is as late as Jan/Feb 2001, then they are doing that just for the heck of it. All it means is one more step in your arduous journey is over but it does not mean that they are going to expedite your I-485 application just because your FP is done.

Heck yeah, the city you are in matters for FP notice. Detroit is lagging behind by about 7 to 8 months now. But good thing is, because of that, it seems to take only about 3 to 4 months after FP to get approval, since it approaches one year. While others although might get earlier FP, will have to wait longer for 485 approval.

Detroit_Waiter,

So, Your conclusion is :

NSC: I-485 approval around ONE year, no matter your FP done early or later.

The total time is around one year irrespective of FP date. It may be different for non-indian applicants. Different quotas.

But knowing how irregular the files move at INS after FP, it is not easy to predict the approval time. But you have to admit that INS is much faster than last year. Still not at its best speed. With less H-1 applications, may be there is scope for further improvement..

Still hoping...and waiting for FP

detroit ranger,

In my company, I know 4 EB-2 cases, which their I-485 RD around March 2000 and did their FP at Jan 2001 already received their I-485 approval notices. The average time is one year.

I agress that INS is much faster than last year.

Hope we can get I-485 approve less than one year.
