Hi,
The FBI has a hot line you can call to inquire about your fingerprint status. You need to give them the case number on your fingerprint appointment sheet. They will only tell you whether or not your application was sent, not if there were any problems.
In my case, I called the FBI hotline and found out that the fingerprints were sent to NSC the next day. It took the NSC over 3 months to update the AVM though. I think I lost the hotline number, so maybe someone else can be kind enough to post it.
