Dear Forum members,
I am finally relieved after stressful waiting for 3 months as my EB1-OR was approved few days back. My case was really was not a strongest one and as per my lawyer I had 50-50 chances of sailing through.
Now I am waiting for my I-485 (priority date: 09/15/07). I am glad that I took the risk and filed concurrently at that time.
Thanks for all the forum members and my best wishes to all who are waiting for the decisions on their petitions.

Many congratulations, eb2007. I remember how you had been waiting patiently since Aug to get a response on the RFE. The new year has brought good news for your hard work.

I was wondering how you/your univ attorney handled the permanent nature of your position. If I remember correctly, you were a Research Associate for about 2 years at the time of filing and got a RFE on that point too. I have applied in the OR category and this issue might come up.

Thank you and congrats again.

congratulations, eb2007!

Could you please tell me what was your RFE about, how many days were you given to address it, how did you address it? I just got CRIS mail last nite indicating an RFE - I am trying to get prepared. Your feedback will be quite useful.

I saw your old post and found that you initially claimed more than the required criteria including awards - did you address all of them in your RFE or only focused on your strongest two/three and ignored the rest?

Thanks gc_app07! For permanent position issue, I got a letter from the Dept and also my University attorney provided them the University manual.
Interestingly, there was no query on my 2 years of experience. I had about 12-13 publications and also since the time I initially applied I had a review article published and few citations that we provided to USCIS with our response.
Good luck

Actually USCIS asked for more evidence in all the categories I claimed.
Permanent position: answered in above post.
Reviewer of other's work: I got letters from editors of 3 journals for whom I served as a reviewer.
Recognition of my work: I got letters from scientists from different countries who cited my work. Those letters simply stated that my work provided a lead to them for their research.
I also got a letter from Editor of one journal where my review article was recently published. He stated that they asked for a review from me as they considered me eminent in the field.
Membership: There was a question on that but we did not claim that in response to RFE.

In summary, I would suggest you to collect strong letters from scientists in different countries. You may contact the people who have cited your work for the letters. Mostly people are helpful and atleast few of them would surely help you.
USCIS gave me about 1 month to reply.
Hope this helps.
Good luck to all of you..

eb2007..thanks....for some i see they give 5-6 weeks but for you, they gave only 30 days...hopefully, i get more
- could you please pm me a copy of the letter from an editor of the journal? it might help me.
- i have about 5 more citations (that I could track) since my application was filed last year..couple from abroad..hopefully, i can get them to write me letters

Thanks eb2007. Does your university manual mention any time restrictions on your current position of Research Associate? My univ manual has a restriction of 3 years after which you have to either leave or be promoted to asst. professor.

How long were your letters from journal editors? Most of my reference letters are between 2 to 3 pages but I assume editor letters are shorter. Do they describe your various achievements or do they mention 1 or 2 strongest achievement and the reason they invited you to review manuscripts. It would be great if you can share a paragraph or two of your editor letter.

Thank you very much and good luck with the I-485 application.

gc2007,

i gather you are at a university..when/where did you file? still waiting for a decision or have you recd an RFE?

Yes, my univ filed EB1-OR. It was filed recently, so have to wait for another 6-8 months before I hear from them. However, my qualifications are not as strong as many of the others in this forum, so trying to get details on how to respond to RFE, when it arrives.
