I had my interview on June 27 in mumbai. No problems at the interview except that they asked me to make corrections in passport for place of birth mismatch. got that corrected and went back on july 5 and got my GC packet

All by the Grace of God...

Now I am in Canada and planning to enter US on July 19 - JFK.

If anyone have previous POE exp at JFK please post

I am glad to answer any questions

Canadian PR should do CP interview in India or Canada?

Congrats Milegakya. Do u hold Canadian PR?
I have few qustions.

I am a canadian PR and want to apply my GC with consular Processing.

1) Am I elegible to do CP interview in Canada?

2) Am I elegible to do CP interview in India(my native country)?

3) If I do CP interview in Canada ,can INS ask me that currently you have PR of 2 countries. So give up one PR.?

4) If I do CP interview in India, then I have less chances of being caught that I have two PR's as compared to CP in Canada.?

5) Can I be living and working in Canada for some different employer and getting my US Greencard thru CP by a different employer.

Thanks a lot.

POE at JFK ....

had entered via JFK on June 29 (cp @Chennai on June20th)

no problems.asked to stand in Citizens/Perm. residens line.
when my turn came, the officer opened the sealed packets
and verified our names, photos ,date and place of birth
details with Passport and the sealed pkt.

She stamped for the immigration.
Then she asked us to go a room in the right corner
immediately after you cross the counter. This is the INS
office.

You go and give ur PPs and docs - they ask u to wait.
Soon, my wife was called - the officer took the fingerprints
(index finger - they instruct you to press lightly to avoid
smudging) and took her signature. Officer stamped her passort Then I went thru the samemotion and we were out.

No questions at either places.

hope this helps.Congrats and good luck!

Gc_milegakya,what was the timeline

between sending packet 3 and interview date? My packet 3 was sent on 8th july and my consulate is Bombay. When can I expect the interview? Do NVC also send RFE's and if so on what issues?
Thanks & congrats to you.

Re: Gc_milegakya,what was the timeline

You can expect an interview in September! All the best

Re: POE at JFK ....

Thanks u_me. Did they ask where you came from? Did they ever ask you to see the tickets (flight). Just curious as I will be entering from Canada.

Regards

Gc_milegakya...please can U give details

of the timeline between sending packet3 and interview date?
Also in the other part of the question I had asked if we can expect any RFE from NVC? Shall appreciate your input.

Gc_milegakya...

The answer to both of your questions - NO

the immigration officer and the poeple in INS office - none of
them asked to check the tickets.

get ready to change ur name to 'GC_milgaya' :)

Re: Gc_milegakya...please can U give details

The NVC is supposed to verify your application before they send it to the respective consulate. So if there is something wrong with your application they can ask for RFE. I highly doubt this as they do not have any of our documents with them. I never received RFEs nor have seen or heard anyone receiving RFEs for CP. So chill out and get prepared for your interview. You may want to give the NVC sometimes this month to make sure they send the packet to the consulate.

GC_Milegakya..question on "place of birth mismatch"

Congrats GC_Milegakya....cn u pls answer foll questions

what kind of mismatch you had? how did you get it fixed on the passport? My wife's passport has district name and BC has "town name, District name". I am hoping it won't be a problem, at least does not sound like one if I think practically. Just want to see if u had similar problem.

thanks.

tapasvi.

Re: GC_Milegakya..question on "place of birth mismatch"

It wont be a problem at all. The BC normally contains the address of your place of birth whereas the Passport and other documents will contain just the city/district and or state of your place of birth. So no problem in your case. All the best for your interview

Re: Re: GC_Milegakya..question on "place of birth mismatch"

GC_Milegakya and tapasvi,
I have the same problem. POB in passport is my district name. POB in BC is town name and district name.
My question is what i have to mention in the DS230 form for POB? town name or district name? If i mention town name, then it doesn't match with passport.
I guess it's better to mention POB in DS230 as district name.
But please post your ideas.

Thanks
