Well, finally after taking the Oath became the USC today in Chicago. No more pinching question from IO's on the airports, right to vote, freedom to live abroad for extended periods, and right to apply for Federal jobs are some of the benefits I love to have. At times it seemed a dream so far away, but today it felt really great. All in all it took 7 months. Waiting after the interview was really testing... had to wait four months after the interview while lots of people were getting their oaths notices in couple of weeks after the interview if not the same day, and there I was waiting for mine every single day for 4 months.. Elections came and passed, New Year came, January passed, and finally in Feb I got the Oath notice... Well in a way it was not so bad when I saw many people waiting lot longer than me... And it all turned out well in the end..

BIG Thanks you to the moderators of this site and ALL those who were replying to my posts and being supportive.

And, Good luck to all who have applied, waiting or yet to apply in coming days, months and years to come. This site is so help and informative, I don't how I'm going to keep myself away and not read all the posts from different people in different situations..

Keep up the good work guys... And let's keep supporting each other...

God bless you all..

Congratulations!

What additional documents did USCIS request you to send?

Thanks You!

In the first request, they asked for copies of driver's licences (mine and spouse's), and last three years tax records

in the second request, they asked for some police records, They had my name mixed up with someone else in the police records. I had to prove that wasn't me.

Well, I could have gone to the passport agency, but I actully applied in my local post office via normal service (3-6 weeks). I wasn't in hurry. Expadiate would have costed $65 more with also the requirement of showing them the travel itenarry.

Congrats aero_ir...and enjoy your new citizenship!

Thanks USCin2009! it feels great!

Good Luck with your Oath Notice/Date. Hope you get it soon. It seems with the new Administration in the WH, things are slightly improving in term of the waiting..

Congratulations to you aero_ir!

Congratulation Aero...

You forgot to mention another benefit... you can beat up ur husband now :p

Mybe they have to honor a few dead soldier ghosts to become USC. :D

I'm scared of ghosts, I think morning ceremonies are much better.. but its a matter of personal preference for anyone to take oaths in the nights.. (as if USCIS is going do that :D)
