I-485 approved - Infopass appointment

Hello all,
After a long ordeal like all of us, finally got an approval letter for my 485 along with my wifes approval letter by mail today. But online doesn't show the updates. Quick summary: Mine was wrongly put in EB3 instead of EB2 and after making couple of personal calls to VSC reps, I can bet it has helped me.
My attorneys clearly told "We will have to work at VSC's pace"....So all I did was prayed to god and called VSC 2ce in 3 weeks duration.

Our case was approved on May 13th, 2005.

I am trying to get to INFOPASS website and when I use dallas zipcode and choose the appropriate option, I get the following message:
"At this time, there are no information appointments available for the office in your area. Please try back again later. "

It's 9:00 pm central when I am trying this.....Any thought gurus?

Thanks.

Keep trying...

it is very generic error message...Keep trying several times (may be during a weekday)...You should be fine...Good luck...

I have been trying infopass appointment for 2 days now .... no luck same message - I am trying it using a NJ zip code.
Can you please give me a few pointers ?
1. Did u receive any approval notice?
2. I received an email saying my application was approved-after that no more emails. the email mentions that I will receive an approval notice by post in 14 days. Did you receive and emails after the approval?
3. Can you give some details regarding the instructions in you approval letter about the infopass appointment? What all is to be done and how?

thanks appreciate it.

485 approval foll by InfoPass appt

Hi All,
Sorry I didn't update you further on the Infopass problem.
Basically it was end of the day and I guess that's why, was not able to get Infopass. Finally got one for myself at 11: pm but not for my wife. We tried from PC and laptop.

Finally gave up and tried first thing in the morning from work. My wife tried from home. We went online together and did parallely and we got the appt.

From what I understand, they update the schedule/slots on a daily basis.

Raj:
thanks for ur reply.

I got my appointment but I could not get one for my wife - by the time we tried again .. they did not have any slot left.

What was ur expreince - did you need seperate appointments for your spouse (family) ... or will the officer consider us together and stamp for both of us? Did ur spouse have to show the appointment ?

appreciate ur comments.
thanks,

My EB-2 based I-485 case was also mistakenly put into EB3. I called on 4/25/005 and initiated an inquiry. But I have not heard anything back from VSC yet.

You mentioned you called them twice within 3 weeks. Did they correct the mistake right after your first call?

So far, I called them only once. I heard it is not good to call them more than once within 30 days period. What do you think?

Hi All,
Response to MSD_GC questions:
I read it's better to have separate appt for each member of your family. I had the same problem like yours. Just try early in the morning, late night, you know different timing. Since you have an appt for yourself, you should be able to cancel several times with no problems.

From what I gathered from different forums is that it's better to have separate appt. Hope that helps..

Response to Freewalker questions:
Putting our cases in a wrong bucket is very annoying. Been through that. I was told the first time, my case will be moved into EB2 bucket and someone will pick it up for processing. But in 2 weeks didn't get any LUD on my case. So I called beginning of the 3rd week and told the officer about my problem. Note: I spoke to someone at VSC. She told u called 2 weeks back and why are u calling again so soon. I had to explain that it's not my fault and I am calling because of VSC's fault and there is a valid reason for my call and explained the problem again. She put me on hold for 10 mts and told that my case was still in the same old slot (EB3) and would do the needful and should get picked up and processed within 2 weeks. So I waited for a week and called again and they told me it's on tract. End of that week I got my approval.

Good luck.

dallasgang:

How long did it take for VSC to approve your I-485 after your first call to ask them to move it back to EB2 bucket?

Thanks,

How long?

From the first call to the approval 2 months. If I didn't make the 2nd call, I would be still waiting. My case will be still sitting in the wrong EB3 bucket shelf. I guess sometimes, if our attorneys say "we will have to work at governments pace", and if you feel that's wrong, pick up the phone and make a call.

But I have understood that if there is a valid reason, VSC reps are very polite and will give you the best answer. So please do not make calls unnecessarily.

Good luck to every one. Keep praying..Prayer is the best medicine.

congratulations!

My case is similar as yours. Although my lawer put into wrong catagory EB3 and it was approved. After that he file another 140 based on EB2, which is still pending. I did call VSC, the lady told me that she could not tell me anything about my case, because I am the beneficer, not the petitioner. They only give information to petitioner, which is my lawer. Do you think she is right? Can I call again? Although my lawer sent 2 inquirys, I have not heard anything yet. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your info, dallasgang. I have been waiting for one month since my first call. I did not see any progress yet. Will call VSC again tomorrow.
