Finally Approved... The roller-coaster ride is over

:) I am glad to share the news that we recieved our approval notices in mail on 11/13/04 (Approval Date is Nov 01). Ironically our Notice dates were 11/13/02, so it took exactly 2 years.

We were interviewed on Oct 28th, but could not get a decision on the same day since my son's medical form was missing and I had to get a new one from the doctor.

I am glad that this roller-coaster ride is over. My case was not really straightforward. I had left the sponsoring employer even before I applied I-140. That was a real small consulting company with only 3 employees, so I was lucky that I didn't get a RFE for company financials. Then I was out of status for some time as my new employer forgot to mail the paperwork for the H1 transfer, so I had to finally go out of the country to get a new stamp.
After we returned we filed concurrently. Then I switched the job once again and started using EAD. My current salary is 40% less than specified in LC and I was still able to use AC21. Another interesting thing is that we never submitted our birth certificates and they never asked for those. All we had in the file was our high school certificates that indicate date of births.

I am not much of a story teller, But I guess this will give some hope to guys whose cases are a little complex.

I have a couple of question... Do we really need a Stamp in the passport since we have no plans of travelling in the immediate future? How long does the plastic card take these days? The letter mentions that it takes between 8-12 months. They also mailed me a temporary evidence for Permanent resident status, which looks like an I-94 with some stamping and my picture on it.

I am a bit confused...If you are out of status and enter the country with a new stamp, will you then be considered to be in Status?

I may have a similar situation but am not quite sure of me being out of status.

Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

I am not very sure of that. But I had included a letter from my employer explaining the situation that it was not my fault and how we corrected it legally. But they did not ask anything about it in the interview. So, I am not sure if they overlooked it or if they care for the status since last entry.
 
You have to go for Stampping in the Passport, they will take your new pics, and your index FP with your signature. After that only your cards processed. So finish the work as soon as posible so that your cards will come.

Photoes are Passport type (even they specified in the letter says cross).

Take Infopass onceyour approval comes and go for 551 stampping in the passport.

They took out index FP and signature at the interview time itself and they already had our original pitures that were submitted with the application.

I had filed in TSC, but they transfered my case to Kansas City local office earlier this year for an interview. So, I finallly got the approval letter and the temporary card from the local office. My on-line status still reads "Transfered to local office..."

I am not sure how interviewed cases will handle for the card order.

If they ordered the card then you don't have to go for stampping.

If you go for stampping then there is a chance to getting order of your cards in a week. So thats upto you.

The approval notice I recieved mentions that they have ordered the cards and I will recieve those in 8-12 months. The letter mentions that if you need to travel outside then I should go for stamping. It does not mention anything about the photographs.
 
If you have travel plans in recent months get-it stampped or wait for your cards.

If it says they ordered means they will come in very shortly if it is in Texas now a days.

Mine is ordered on 8th and mailed on 12th...hope in a day or two I will receive.

During the interview, they found your son's medical was missing, but why they didn't approve you and your wife's cases and stamp your passports. I am not questioning anything, I am just curious. I have always thought the dependant's case won't affect primary's case from getting approved at the interview. Did you happen to ask the officer why he/she couldn't approve yours on the spot?

Well, I didn't want to question her. However, I asked her that besides the medical forms, how does it look? and to that she replied that we were technically approved pending my son's medical form. She also mentioned that she would have to take one more look at my job description and see if it was similiar to one mentioned in the labor/I-140.

She sounded pretty honest so I believed her.
