Jack, etc. Had a death/funeral in the family so just getting back to this RE permit/travel frame of mind.. It did not work out how we planned it to (probably would have applied for RE but the funeral, etc really took all of our time/preference.)
But, we are leaving the US on Sunday and plan to be out of the US until approximately Oct 14/15. No later if anything-a bit earlier.
Spouse has not applied for a RE permit YET and we hope to see if this travelling will be turning into a longer 'stint' of off and on (in and out of US) between now and Oct 15. Reason being his ill parent-not 100% sure what is happening and limited time..parent is doing poorly. Spouse (alone)visited father for 1 week and return August 27 (and now back out on the 5th with all of us for the 5-6 weeks. If the answer is that yes we need to be out for sure, he will apply for the permit mid-October.
Should this 5.5 weeks out be ok w/o the permit and w/o alot of harrassment upon re-entering or would you suggest him doing it earlier to avoid a problem? ( he would have to therefore come back to do this). When we return on the 15th we will be returning as a family. We would definitely do one in October IF we see the trend is going to continue-and this is one of the reasons beside funeral for not applying yet-did not want to apply for no reason....Do they give you a problem for being gone for 5-6 weeks? I (USC) will be travelling back to the US for about 10 days before all coming back on October 15 in the US- and then back to join spouse and child.
Thoughts.? Thanks..every angle I turn I have a complications with family illness/death so I hoping for a no problem on this one...And I realize no one has that magic crystal ball...V
