Filling out the N-400: Part 2 & PD Notification Timeline?

2 questions:

* Do we have to do the fingerprint to get the interview call? Or will the interview letter be sent prior to the fingerprint being done?

* Any idea what the norm (how long) is get the interview date from the time fingerprint is done?

roark007,

My wife and I are going through the Dallas Office. PD is 03/14/05, and we still have not received our interview letters. We both submitted our fingerprints on 05/05/05. However, my wife was asked to resubmit her prints; and she did that on 06/22. I have been told by others that the interview date is really tied to the PD rather than the fingerprinting per se.

It would appear from going through the different threads that it is pretty unlikely that one would receive an interview letter prior to the fingerprints being done.

Good luck!

interview notice is tie to the PD, which it is correct. however, without FP, I do not think the applicant will even get an interview notice at all.

Guys: Did FP on 15th Jul - had my appointment, went a little early and they accommodated especially since the place was not busy. Would certainly recommend that anybody do this.

Did the computerized FP - went smoothly. Apparently about 1 in 1000 can get rejected even if the computer passes the FP check - and usually they would know when taking the FP - so would not hurt if you check with the person who takes the FP.

The folks were very helpful.

From what I understand, if you are lucky - you could hear from them in about a month from the FP date (!) - looking forward to that :-)

Hi guys: Got my interview letter y'day (02 Sep 05) scheduled for Oct 28 - any suggestions on what I shoudl take with me for the interview since the interview letter does not specifically ask for anything other than the standard GC, ID, Passport etc.?

I have some traffic tickets from some time ago - do I need to get any documents from DPS? Any information will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Guys:
I just got my citizenship interview done on Friday - everything was smooth, and I have the oath date on Dec 01, 2005 in Dallas. The lady who conducted the interview was very nice and the entire process took about 20 minutes to complete.

I had my interview set @ 1220p and was at the facility (3010 N Stemmons, Dallas, TX) around 11a. The security folks allowed me to go inside and I was called for my interview at 1150a! I was out by 1220p with my oath appointment letter.

The lady asked me for the following:
* Passports (old & new)
* Green card
* Driving licence

She had a thick folder that had all of my information from the green card processing application to my birth certificate, marriage certificate - the whole shebang! Pretty impressive.

As she was skimming thru the folder - she asked me all the questions that were in the "Form N-400 Application for Naturalization" and I had to answer "Yes" or "No". She then pulled out the questionaire for the civic test & started asking me questions. As I answered, she was marking if the answer was correct - after I got the 6 questions right (the 1st 6!) - she passed me a paper, and asked me to read a sentence from it - no biggie, and then she asked me to write a simple sentence - "They live together in a big house" - that was pretty much it!

She indicated that I was approved, and asked if I wanted to take the oath on Dec 01 (Dallas) or Dec 15 (Plano, TX). I said Dallas on Dec 01 - she said the ceremony would take about 3 hours and that there would be USD8.00 parking fee .... and might have some problems getting back home due to evening traffic :-)

She did not ask me to produce any evidence that my traffic tickets were paid off - she just asked me if I had them paid off (since I had indicated in my N-400). She did not ask me for the SSS letter either.

The whole experience was very pleasent. Here is my information as a reference:

Location: Dallas, TX
Priority Date: 27 May 2005
Finger Print: 15 Jul 2005
Citizenship Interview: 28 Oct 2005
Oath date: 01 Dec 2005
County I live in: Denton County, TX (not sure if you need this)

Hope all goes well with the oath - Thanks to the folks on this board - they were pretty helpful.
