Filling I-485 and travel

Hi,
  My company is considering sending me overseas for a couple of months.
I am awaiting my I-140 approval so I called my layer and asked if I can come back to US for a week, file for I-485 and leave. He said yes, but in order to come back to US later I need to have my I-485 receipt with me (I do have valid H1 but apparently it is not enough)
I thought I would share it with folks...

Your lawyer is right. The H1 stamp travel option must
include I-485 receipt notice, even though IIO at port
of entry may not ask for it.
