Assuming all requirements are me ( continious residence), GC is 6 years old etc....applicant is on 2 month stay out of the US and expect to be back soon. Can n-400 be filed/sent in while out of the US? ( hopefully FP scheduled in 3-4 weeks when applicant expect to be back in US) would this be ok?

The N-400 should be sent from within the US to avoid possible rejection from USCIS for lack of residential ties. Some applicants decide to have someone mail in the application for them while they are out of the country. Just remember that the FP notice may arrive as soon as 2-3 weeks after filing, so the applicant should be able to return to US within short notice.

I assumed it would need to be mailed from within the US. My question is if there could be a problem when USCIS notice later in passport that applicant was not in the US on date application was signed/sent and actually entered some time after applying.

No, it wouldn't be a problem unless the length and/or reason of absence would bring into question your US residential ties.
