Filing I-485 while I-140 is still being processed?

Hi,

My company filed for my I-140 about 6 months back. I'm aware that I-140 and I-485 can be filed concurrently.

Will I be able to file to I-485 now or do I have to wait till my I-140 gets approved?

I think we can file I-485 with I-140's receipt notice. Please double check this with another source.
 
Thanks for your reply. If I file for I485 now, can you tell me at what point does the job portability clause take effect. I mean is it after 6 months after I get the EAD provided I have my I-140 aprroved by then. Or is it just 6 months after getting my EAD?

You can use portability if 180 days have passed since your I-485 RD. However, you should have I-140 approved by then.

If 180 days have passed since I-485 RD, but no I-140 approval, then you have to wait until I-140 gets approved.
