Hello guys I need help here, I'm filing the I-130 for my mother as a US Citizen, the thing is that my mother name in MY birth certificate is different from the name in HER birth certificate, just by one letter, my question is. Can I start the process even with that error in my BC and then if they ask me for a correct one I just send them the corrected BC, I would like to start the process ASAP, and I know it will take some time to ask for a new BC in my former country, What do you guys advice.

I had the same problem and I provided an explanation. Eventhough I have yet received anything regarding this case, I am assuming that they will be satisfied with my explanation. Go ahead and send it and share your timeline with us.

Thank you guys I send the papers. Now lets see how long it takes for the approval, do you have any Idea??

No issue at all

dani5050,

I had the same problem. My mother's name is spelt as **lima on my BC but on her passport it says ""leema. I still went ahead and mailed in the paperwork last month. No RFE, nothing. So far so good. Looks like you shouldn't stress out. Now when I think about it, it may seem like an issue but you have few other examples from different users including me so chill out, you're fine.

Is the person in or out of the USA currently ? For people outside the US (Consular processing) it takes between 2 months to one year or approval.
