hello, I just found this message board and I would appreciate anybody's advice as I cant figure out what be the best decision. I live in AR right now...my husband and I are moving to ND, in fact he is already here(just got a job). So I found a little problem, once I move to ND it will take 6 months to become a resident. and Id like to get citizenship ASAP. I want to apply here in AR here withing a week, but I dont know what to do with fingerprints!:/ Im flying to ND in the beginning of December. So the question is... what shoudl I do with fingerprints??.. Would it be OK if I just reschedule them by mailing letter that Ive changed address (As soon as I get to ND & change address right away)??? or should I try and get into office and get fingerprints before appointment?..
..considering I live like 4 hour drive (one way) from teh office and I have a 9 month old son who hates cars:)):/.. would it be worth trying to get them done here in AR and THEN just change the address once Im in ND??..
what would be the safest way ...Im afraid it will bring a chaos into my case:( but I really dont want to wait 6 months in ND...(zitizenship is based on 3 year marriage)
..I will appreciate everybody's opinion!

You have two options:

1. Apply where you are, and come back for your FP appointment and other appointments.
2. Move to ND and wait for at least 3 months before applying. You need to reside in the district you're applying to for at least 3 months.

For naturalization 90 days of residence in the new district is sufficient (assuming you also have the 3 years or 5 years of total residence in the US), you don't need 6 months.

If you apply first and then move to ND, doing so will likely delay your case anyway and make you temporarily ineligible for naturalization until you complete the 90 days. So it's better to wait out the 90 days before applying.

I would recommend you file right away, and then change address with USCIS after settling in. This may have you get the citizenship faster than applying from ND where you have to wait three months after moving there.

Filing from AR and changing address to ND may have some mailing issues, but it may outweight the urgency of naturalization for you.

By the way, you can do fingerprinting in the DO of your new town, even the letter tells you to go DO of your current town.

Good luck.

Apply now, move to ND, and file change of address. Once they have your new address on file your FP will be scheduled at ND ASC.
