Filing for I-130

Hi, I was wondering do you have to file I-485 together with I-130?? I notice that in I-485 it request the spouse of the applicant need to provide a I-693. How would that be possible if the spouse is not in the United State?

Hi,
If your spouse is not in the US and you are then you file just the I-130 (with the other forms it lists on the application - G325A, etc). The I-485 is for when the spouse is living in the US and you want to adjust their status.
The USCIS website has all of the information required for filing the I-130 with instructions on how to fill out the forms.

Ahhh I was just a bit confused after reading so many different instruction on filing for a spouse from another country. Thanks for the clarification.
