filing for GC with another company

My employer has filed for GC but labor has been pending for more than a year. On that basis, they have applied for a 7th year extension (6th year ends on May 31, 2004).

I plan to apply for a GC via a friend's firm. Let us say that more than a year passes after I file for a GC via this second firm. After that one year, if I get laid off by my current employer or if the current labor application is denied, can I transfer my H1 to my friend's firm? Do I need to apply and hold an H1 concurrently with my friend's firm or can I apply for one later on when needed?

----- apply the LC ASAP, any employer can file LC or first step of GC for you

-------- you will need LC from past employer or LC from new employer pending more then 365 days, if any LC is pending for more than 365 days you can file H1 extension for 7th year , 8th year, you can also transfer H1 with other company and you will need evidence of ANY LC filed for you by ANY employer more than 365 days( use good lawyer)

----- you can apply when needed but before your H1 expiry date
