filed for I485 last year; I140 said CP; can I file for CP now

I had filed for 485 last year though my I 140 indicated CP.
I understand that 485 and CP cannot be concurrent.
Am wondering if there I can file for CP now. There was discussion on this issue sometime back but I cannot locate that thread.
Please advise

Answer: Yes. File I-824 to change from 485 to CP and then do either traditional CP if your consulate does not accept I-824 receipt OR if your consulate accepts I-824 receipt then do AC I-140 which is a faster CP process.

What is going to be your consulate? Once you answer this and tell me when you filed 485 I or someone else can advice you on whether it is worth changing process to CP.

consulate is bombay/new delhi

I got one F1 stamp from new delhi and another H1 from bombay
I still reside in new delhi area though.
Can I get it from either consulate? In any case - the consulate is not chennai which I think should be the deciding factor
Is that correct
