What is the file number for PIO Holders for OCI Application

I looked at PIO Booklet everywhere but could not find that information. When I printed my OCI application, it has a column of PIO File Number which has nothing. I am not sure how to find File Number.

Should I leave it blank as it is or if not then how can I find file number?

Thanks for your help.

I assume you are actually asking for PIO number, not the PIO file number, since PIO number is what is asked for in Section A of OCI app.
And since in another thread you have indicated that you have completed your online registration, I again assume that you found it.
If not, then the PIO number is on the first page of your PIO booklet, and also embossed in the back cover of your PIO booklet.

You are right when you say that Part A asks for PIO Number. There is no problem there. But once you print the OCI Application, Part A has column for PIO File Number. So it looks like there are 2 things - PIO Number and PIO File Number. I have PIO Number but not the file number.

Thanks.

Huh! I have the part A printout in my hand and it says "PIO card No", not PIO file number. Unless this text has changed in the part A app since Sep 14th when I printed my app out.
In any case, you only have one number which is the PIO card number. Use that.

Part A - Print out - Column 14

i - PIO Card Number Date of Issue Valid upto
ii - File Number Issued From

I am talking about (ii) File Number. I printed it yesterday and it was there. I don't know whether it got changed or not?

Well, this new field has definitely appeared in the last month. I looked at my now cancelled PIO card, and did not find a file number either.
I think you should leave this field blank, just fill in the "Issued From" column.

All the best!

The file number should be printed on the inside back cover of the PIO booklet where they generally have details of your parents, etc.

I checked PIO card and file number is NOT there.

Well, I have looked enough and it is not there so I will leave the field blank because there is nothing else I can do.
