Hey guys,

Ok so I Figured out why I haven't received my "Request of more evidence" letter. I guess in Michigan there is a State law that is required to label your Mailbox (Appartment) with your last name, my Step Father's last name is on there and the apt number. On the letter, my Last name is on there but not on the Mailbox, so the Mailman suspects that the letter is the wrong address or old mail. I called the Post office and thats what the Supervisor told me so thats something I should pass around and good advice for other future mail.

Also, I have been thinking about moving out of my Step Dad's place and move in with my Girlfriend and her parents, is that a smart idea? because the place I am at right now (my Step Dad') is 1 bedroom apartment and I sleep on the couch and I dont like that lol. Like I don't want USCIS to be suspious or anything like that or if Im "Using" my stepfather for a Green Card.

Anyways, I hope this thread was helpful for those who were in the same position as I am. Im gunna probabily label the Mailbox but ill ask USCIS to send it to my Friend's house or if I can pick it up at the Post Office.

Interesting what they told you...when the Postal Office is federal. I wonder how then people received some junk mail (free magazines/ads/coupons, etc) send to "resident #xxx" and then the address.

There have been plenty of cases where GCs and EADs have not been delivered due to the lack of the person's name on the mailbox. This doesn't just happen in Michigan. In general it is definitely advised to have your name on your mailbox, there's even a USCIS document that says you should do it to ensure delivery of documents.

Don't leave it to chance, pop down to Walmart and spend $3 on the letters today!

Will do, I live in apartment so im gunna have to find a label or something lol. I am going to ask for them to resend it again, I am going to ask if they send it to the Post office and ill pick it up cause I dont want this to happen again but this is a good future refference tho.

Well there is a place where you can put your name outside the box so I put my name there, I dunno anything about inside the mailbox but oh well I guess.

Anyways, If I don't receive it in a couple weeks should I make an apointment for Info Pass at my local Service center? cause My Case is delayed and I need some help.

isn't funny, you get tons of mail from allover the world and country and it isn't an issue at all. ever. period. but then this comes along and now they look for your name.

I was told to put my name on my mailbox by a USCIS 800 Number CSR...the one piece of information I received from that hotline that actually was correct. It is not a Michigan thing.

Yes, its amazing how many people rationalise not doing it as well. Considering how careful people are to make the process go well, its amazing that they won't take a simple step to avoid massive heartache of a undelivered EAD or GC.

Well thanks guys, I just put my name on a piece of paper, put tape over it and put stuck it on the Mailbox.

Wish me luck guys.
