Hey folks,

I am trying to find an answer to my friend. She is graduating wiht a Bachelors in Economics in few weeks. She is presently on F1 status. I intend to recommend her to work in my company.

She told me that she has to get an "OPT" first before she can apply for the job and my company can then proceed to apply for her H1 visa?

Is this correct? Can a F1 visa holder apply for a job here and the company can sponsor and then apply for her H1 visa?

Grateful for any response.

Thanks again:)

She can work with a company on "PT" for 1 year. Within this year She should get her H1. Green Card / LC process can be started without H1 also.

Thanks gp for this prompt response.

The problem is I was told, she can only get her OPT in Dec. If my company decide to employ her (she is still on F1), is this possible and the company proceed to apply for her H1 and she will get her OPT from her school in Dec? Bottom line, can she commence work in say Oct 2003?

Thanks :)

she should be able to if she takes a internship credit and applies for CPT, or curricular practical training. however i am not sure if she can work more than 20 hrs/week.
always get advise from univ dept for intl students.
