Few clarifications for wife's name change during Interview

Guys,

Me and my wife have an interview at the Newark office tomorrow and I had a few questions about it.

1) In the N-400 application, my wife's application has a request for her name to be changed to our family name. We however, put 'Shilpa Rao' in the first name column and 'Sharma' in the last name column. I wanted to change it to 'Shilpa' as the first name, 'Rao' as the middle name. Is it advisable to print out another N-400 form with the change along with us and request the officer to consider the change or is it risky at this stage ?

2) I am also carrying a long list of things to the interview as suggested in one of the previous threads. Can anyone let me know if these are enough ?
  • Interview Appointment Letter
  • Passport
  • Green Card
  • Driver License
  • Tax Returns for last 5 years
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Any traffic citations
  • Social Security Card
  • Four passport sized photos
  • Birth Certificate - along with translations.
  • Employment Letter
  • Utility Bills (Gas + Electric), Credit Card Bills, Bank Statement copies to prove your resident status
  • Pencil (Yes pencil since they ask us to write something on the photos using only pencil)
  • A Blue and Black pen.

Thanks a lot in advance for the help guys.

Regards,
Sonu

You forgot the most important thing to bring to the interview - the RED pen!

Just kidding... relax and take it easy. It's almost over. No reason to print any more N-400s. You can change anything on the original form before you sign it during the interview.

Thanks albertr. I wasnt sure if asking the officer to change something was a good idea or not. I will request for the change..

Yes, why not carry the red when I carry the other colors !!!

as someone who just became a new citizen recently, i can tell you that you
should let the interviewing officer make the change. he/she will probably
just cross out the middle name and write it again in the middle name box.

if your district office has same-day oaths, changing your name will delay your
wife's oath. in my district, oaths are done on the same day as interview,
if applicant does not need name change. it takes an addition 2 to 3 monts
to schedule oath at federal court for applicants with name change requests.

I wasnt aware of the delay...

I wasnt aware that any name changes cause delays in the oath taking ceremony. In Newark office, the Interview and Oath taking is on the same day. Can anyone who had done a name change recently at Newark please confirm this please ???
