Fee for N400 application

My N400 application was returned by USCIS -VSC because they claimed i sent the wrong check amount. I sent a check for $390 as stated in the Naturalization guide but the letter stated that the fee is $400.

Anyone with a similar experience? When was the fee increased?

I will be sending the application back tomorrow with a check for $400.

Yes as of a new addendum, the new fee is $400, its on their website.

The fee increased a long time ago. I know folks who submitted their applications back in March 2006, sent in $400. Don't know when it changed. But certainly before March of this year.

I sent $400 myself BUT when I looked through the Guide that was downloaded from THEIR site and I also read other Articles about the N-400 it stated several times $390 .. so don't feel bad .. this was 3 weeks ago !
